Design Story and Inspiration for This Crochet Tank Pattern

I have a couple of tanks that I adore and have worn for the last couple of summers. They are both exactly the same shape with different prints, and I decided to see if I could create an easy crochet version.

My tanks are A-lined, which I find very flattering for my shape, and they have a v-neck that isn’t too low, both features I really love. I decided to create a lightweight version and thought that working it in double crochet would make it work up quickly – and it did!

In fact, I worked on this top almost exclusively during car rides… and while waiting to pick up or drop off my kids in the car line!

Yarn Options for This Summer Tank Pattern

I created this design with a DK weight yarn, Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek DK. I found this yarn at my local Hobby Lobby and instantly fell in love with the color and feel of it. It really is soft and sleek! The heathered teal tone was perfect for my wardrobe, too!

You can use any DK weight yarn that gets gauge to create this pattern. A nice thin cotton or even a low pill acrylic like I used. Any summer fiber would work really well. Just be sure to check gauge before you go to all the trouble of working this up!
